10 places for English classes for kids in Belgrade

Families looking for English classes for kids in Belgrade have quite a few different options. Some schools start with games and songs for preschoolers, some create an English-only environment, while others can take a child all the way to Cambridge exams.

This is not a ranking. The right choice depends on age, location, confidence, learning style and what you actually want your child to get from English.

1. International House Belgrade

📍 New Belgrade
👧 Ages:
 5–17
📚 Levels: A0–C2

IH Belgrade runs children's courses entirely in English. It advertises groups of up to 14 students, international teachers and a balanced focus on speaking, pronunciation, listening, reading and writing.

A good option for families looking for an immersive English school for children in Belgrade.

2. English Club

📍 Vračar
👧 Ages:
 5–19

English Club specialises in children and young people, with separate programs for ages 5–10, 11–14 and 15–19.

Its approach combines CLIL and storytelling, so English becomes a tool for exploring subjects, solving tasks and communicating rather than only studying grammar.

3. Bunny School

📍 Zemun
👧 Ages:
 4–18

Bunny School focuses specifically on children and teenagers. Younger students learn through games, communication, music and age-appropriate activities, while older students can progress towards Cambridge First and Advanced preparation.

4. Berlitz

📍 Several Belgrade locations
👧 Ages:
 4–18

Berlitz uses a strongly communicative approach: children are encouraged to start using the language from the beginning rather than spending the first months mainly translating and memorising.

Children's programs are available in several parts of Belgrade and are divided by age.

5. London Gates Belgrade

📍 Central Belgrade
👧 Ages:
 4–15

London Gates is closer to supplementary British education than a conventional language course.

Children study topics such as science, humanities and maths in English, work on experiments and projects, and take part in art and drama. Programs cover ages 4–7, 7–12 and 13–15.

6. Active English School

📍 Vračar

Active English School was founded by British teachers in 2000 and works with preschool, primary and secondary-school students.

Younger children start with songs, games, pictures and interaction; over time, reading, writing, grammar and Cambridge preparation become more important.

7. Smiley

📍 New Belgrade, Block 45
👧 Preschool course:
 ages 3–6

The preschool program introduces English through stories, familiar characters, games and movement using Total Physical Response.

Smiley also offers English lessons for school-age children, so students can continue beyond the preschool stage.

8. Hellas Kids

📍 New Belgrade

Hellas Kids organises children's courses in small groups and uses games, songs, stories, creative workshops and illustrated materials.

It is a useful option for parents who want a playful introduction to English rather than a formal classroom-heavy approach.

9. Mayflower Educational Centre

📍 Zvezdara
👥 Groups:
 generally 4–10 students

Mayflower has programs for preschoolers, younger and older primary-school children and teenagers.

For younger learners, lessons include music, stories, movement, TPR and NTC activities. Older students focus more on conversation, grammar, writing and international exam preparation.

10. Ladybird

📍 New Belgrade and Zemun
👧 Playschool:
 ages 4–6
👦 School-age courses: ages 7–15

Ladybird's preschool course uses games, music, movement and dramatised stories to build confidence and vocabulary.

School-age groups average around six to eight students, and the longer learning pathway can lead towards advanced English and Cambridge exams.

How to choose English lessons for your child

For preschoolers, a warm teacher and an enjoyable atmosphere may matter more than how many pages of a textbook are covered.

For school-age children, ask how much English they actually speak during the lesson, how groups are formed and whether the course is mainly conversational, academic or exam-focused.

And for a regular after-school activity in Belgrade, location matters too. A very good school nearby is often easier to maintain than a perfect one across the city.
